Bright Corner

When noon staggers round

And life is barely daylit

When rain falls hard

In straight thrown bucketfuls

And uneasy nightfall

Lurks, patient by the porch

Escape to the bright corner

Where midsummer never ends

And the spine of the land

Arches in earthy grace

Where bare arms revel in gentle heat

The moon shines like winter sun

And when it does rain

It rains warm tears of joy
